Good News from Veguppatti

On 01 January 2015, there will be a grand festival at Veguppatti village of Ponnamaravathi circle, Pudukkottai District, Tamilnadu, India. That is Shree Vaikunda Egadasi festival of Shree Kalyana Venkateshwara Swamy Temple. A bit notice that describes the events on that day is shown here.

Swamy is with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. Veguppatti is just 3 kilometres from Ponnamaravathi. It is chettinadu area. People here are very very good having top most quality of hospitality, God fearing, and team spirit.

This notice is circulated by Veguppatti Nagaratharkal. There is no substitute and equivalent for the hospitality, manners, customs and traditions followed by Nagarathars (Chettiars).

They invite all devotees to participate this festival and to gain Thiruvarul of the Lord Perumal.

I got this bit notice from Uduppi Shri Krishna Bhavan hotel, Pudupatti, Ponnamaravathi 622408.

Carelessness in Koppanapatti

Arulmigu Sri Muthumariamman temple at village Konnaiyur is very famous. The other name of Konnaiyur is Koppanapatti. It is in between Pudukkottai and Ponnamaravathi. A rain water harvesting system is existing at the temple. However, it is not properly maintained. One of the hoses that carries rain water to the underground has come out. It must be fitted properly to save water.

Let the trees grow

Don’t cut growing trees

Let neighbours live peacefully

In Pudupatti of Ponnamaravathi, it appears that some people don’t want neighbours’ growth. They don’t want to see even trees grown by neighbours. They cut the trees, remove leaves and feed to their cattle. Shepherds feed their cattle by stealing feeds like leaves of drumstick trees, margosa trees (neem trees), and grasses without any hesitation. Their main idea is to grow by spoiling the livelihood and interest of others. A few examples of merciless cutting of growing trees are depicted here.

Despite several requests and warnings, these types of ridiculous activities continue in India, especially PON Puduppatti of Tamilnadu. No mercy; no sympathy at all. Government takes initiatives to grow trees for the mankind. Envying neighbours and greedy thieves don’t allow the growth of plants planted by others. God is only to decide either to punish them or not. Let us live with growing trees that give us oxygen to breath.

Wrong Signboard of Ponnamaravathi

Ponnamaravathi or Ponnamarathy

Highways department installed a signboard in front of ponnamaravathi bus stand, just adjacent to the entrance of buses. It is wrongly written especially in English as PONNAMARATHY. The letters V and A after ponnamara and before thy are missing. Instead of thi, thy is used.

It seems the people of Ponnamaravathi usually don’t use the official name. Similar is the case of Pudupatti. If you see the postal stamp, and board at pudupatti post office, it is written as PUDUPATTI. But the public use different names as P. Puduppatti, P. Puduppatty, Pon. Puduppatti, Pon. Puduppatty, and so on.
