Gayatri, Gayatri Mantra and their Meaning

Gayatri means a hymn or song in Sanskrit.

Gayatri Mantra has been bestowed the greatest importance in Vedic dharma. This mantra has also been termed as Savitri and Ved-Mata, the mother of the Vedas.

Om bhur bhuvah swah

Tat savitur varenyam

Bhargo devasya dheemahi

Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat

Meaning:

O God! You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Almighty, You are all Light. You are all Knowledge and Bliss. You are Destroyer of fear; Creator of this Universe; the Greatest of all. We bow and meditate upon Your light. You guide our intellect in the right direction.

Vaaranam Aayiram

In spite of kodai's constant pleas to call her kannan, the cuckoo totally ignores her. Kodai's sorrow increases beyond limits. Kannan now feels sorry for her plight and out of compassion, bestows a pleasant dream on kodai, who is sleeping after crying for a long time. In this divine dream, he shows her the scenes that will take place in a wedding between Him and her. Andall in her ecstasy describes her dream to her friends, and thus emerges the sixth tirumozhi of the Nachiar Tirumozhi.
